Dog Training Classes

Clicker Training For Life:

Clicker training for life is a 10week course open to all dogs
over the age of 6 months. The course covers all the basic
obedience type training you need but in addition it gives you
an insight into the behaviour of your dog and how to deal with
your dog in real life situations.

The Clicker is used throughout as it is the quickest and most
effective way to train and also gives the dog a chance to use
his brain and allows you and your dog to work as a team.

I have created this course as I found that a lot of owners who
had attended conventional training classes with their dogs
had no idea how to apply this training out of the classroom.
Their dogs could do a brilliant "sit, stay" for up to 10minutes
when in the class but wouldn't even sit at the curbside when
out on walks. I also cover the implications of having a dog
and your responsibities regarding the law.

I have spoken to dog owners and come up with the following
course content (although it is open to change depending on
the specific needs of pupils) based on what they have told
me:

- Basic obedience (sit, down, stay)
- Loose lead walking
- Recall
- Leave it
- Doorways
- Veterinary examination
- Greeting people
- Greeting other dogs
- General manners
- Class specific behaviour problems covered

The classes are held locally in village/town halls and are held
on an evening or weekend. Look in the news and events
section to see when the next/nearest course is running.

If you would like to join a class please ring or email me. I keep
classes small to ensure everyone gets the maximum out of
them so book early as classes fill quickly. I encourage all
owners to attend as it is useful for everyone involved with the
dog to be consistent.

Courses are meant to be fun so dont be ashamed/worried
about your dog misbehaving- thats why you're joining a class!
